Book Club

I'm having so much fun belonging to a book club!

So far we've read the following books:
  • Friday Night Knitting Club - Loved it!
  • A Thousand Splendid Suns - Loved it!
  • Naked - Not a fan of David Sedaris's writing, unlike most people.
  • Water for Elephants - Loved it!
And we're just starting
  • The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo - I still need to buy it.
I've also been reading the Twilight series...I know, I know, don't make fun of me! I have to know what the kids are reading at school, ya know? :) So, I'm on book 3...One more to go!

I love this whole reading for pleasure thing. During grad school, the last thing that I ever wanted to do was read. I was so sick of reading textbooks and articles that I never wanted to read when my work was done. It's fun to finally read some good books again!

Our book club is pretty easy going, too. The structure of it keeps me reading at all times, but it really should be called "Wine Club", because we spend the entire time drinking wine, and only about 15 minutes talking about the book!

Reading for Pleasure

I just finished the book Friday Night Knitting Club, by Kate Jacobs, and it was a great read! I'm probably mostly in love with the fact that I actually sat down and took the time to read for pleasure, something I have not done for a long time. I always seem to find something that I need to do more. It was helpful that I started it over Christmas break, and now that I have one book under my belt, I hope to enjoy getting through some more. Another motivation to actually complete a book is that I joined a book club! I think it's a pretty "social" club, with less emphasis on hearty discussion of the book read, but if it gets me to take time to read, and introduces me to some new friends, then I'm all about it!
